The fish, shrimp, and chicken were seasoned to perfection. I put a little hot sauce before tasting, but it didn't need it. The greens were my favorite side, although all of the sides were delicious. I can't forget about those delicious mac & cheese & shrimp soul rolls. You will not be disappointed in this food. The only complaint that we have is that you're not in Houston. We need you in Houston!

Our family (me, husband, grown kid) had a rare Saturday afternoon off together and wanted to have a fun and delicious family dinner out! It can be hard for us to find a place that serves food all three of us want. Hubby chose Whip My Soul and we are so grateful he did! Whip My Soul has a fun, laid-back, family atmosphere. No cocktail menu, but a LOT of delicious non-alcoholic beverages (local selection, too!). The menu is big enough to offer variety, but not so big as to be intimidating. To say the portions are generous is to be underselling it! And the quality is just TOP-NOTCH. We each got a dinner platter (one meat + two sides), and we got a variety so we could try off each other's. Hubby got fried catfish with hushpuppies and fries. I got shrimp with red beans & rice and fries. Kid got chicken tenders with candied yams and fried okra. Fried okra was the best I've ever had in my entire life, hands down. Same with the yams. Red beans & rice (not vegetarian, FYI) was the best I've had outside of Memphis. So good! Catfish was flaky perfection. Honestly, everything here is delicious. The staff wear tee-shirts that say "Y'all ain't ready" and they're right! We weren't!

The best Soul Food joint I've been to. I knew it was good when I saw it packed with customers and they continued to walk in. We visited from Dallas and once we ate here, we refused to go anywhere else for the rest of our trip. Nice serving size and food tasted so good. They have a nice juice selection which I was pleased with since I don’t drink soda. The owner cares about his customers. He's personable and wants to make sure everyone is satisfied.

This food was absolutely amazing. Fried chicken seasoned to perfection. Honey, cornbread, sweet and buttery. Candied yams just the right amount of sweetness. The mac & cheese was a bit too cheesy for my taste but still 10 out of 10. I will definitely be back to try the cornbread dressing!

Food a s service was great. The seating area is small. Have one person grab a table while the others order. I plan to go again but will do a pick up order instead of eating there. Everything we had was great.
